Know Hub Helgeland
This project is not about our lives, it is about the joy we find in people we meet whilst enjoying it.
Magnar and Elin got the idea of inviting total strangers into their home after a three month family stay in Ethiopia. During this time they were often on the move, staying at many different hotels and inns, only to realise how important it was to get the informal family feel when you are traveling.
The house itself, called "Dordistuo" was built around the 1930s and therefore has the iconic squared shape from the harsh time. It was the tough woman Dorid Lynghaug which got the house built. She had recieved a paid job at the dairymaid and therefore engaged her brother Theodor to do the required work on the house. The house was only used as a summerhouse between the 30s until Mangnar and Elin bought it in 2005. The Baisgård couple has togheter spent the last 15 years renovating the house to be a full year home, Whislt also retaining the historical charm. Both walls and furniture has an authentic expression which gives you a comfortable feeling of traveling back to the early 19th century.
